Last time, I shared a trick to change the ‘Start’ text to what ever you want, which appears at the top of Windows 8 start screen. I hope you liked the trick. As all of you know that Windows 8 has a metro style start screen which has many apps as chunky tiles. You might have noticed the small icon at the bottom of each metro tile. You can change this icon or delete the icon so that the only text is displayed.
Today I’ll tell you how to change the icon in Windows 8 metro tile. There is no 3rd party tool needed as you can do so via general settings of Windows 8 that are actually hard to find.
Follow the Step By Step Instructions:
1) First of all, take a look at the image below to know what I’m talking about. The small icon at the bottom of Windows Explorer metro tile. You’re now going to change this icon or remove the icon, it’s up to you to decide.
2) Let’s take an example of Windows Explorer metro tile. Now, right click on the Windows explorer tile and from the bar, click on ‘Advanced’ and then open file location. The Windows Explorer property window should appear.
3) Now click on ‘Change Icon’ button and it will prompt you to select an icon to use. For more help take a look at the screenshot above. Select your icon, and then click Ok. I’ve used a Blank.ico, so that only the text is displayed.
It’s that easy. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. You might want to read more stuff about Windows 8.
