Last time I shared ‘Windows 8 Transformation pack for Windows 7’ that adds a clock widget and sidebar with several options. If you’re a die hard fan of Windows operating system, you must be aware of the new interface that Microsoft is going to bring in Windows 8.
Microsoft has confirmed in an official post that the start menu will be replaced by a new start page that will display tiles or widgets on the screen. These tiles/widgets will be clickable and make launching application easier than ever before. If you’re looking for a free tool that brings the same tiled-based Windows 8 Metro UI to Windows 7, Mosaic Desktop is your tool.
Mosaic Desktop is a pretty simple tool but works really well on your Windows 7. After you’ve download the tool on your system, simply run the setup file. Once you run the setup file, a new screen with dark background and a black sidebar will open up that will contain two widgets/tiles – Clock Widget and Mosaic Store – at the center of the screen. Here’s how it will look like.
Using sidebar options, you can pin any website or application widget that you use most frequently to the start screen for easy access. Also, by visiting Mosaic Store, where you’ll find a total of 13 useful widgets like Gmail, Hotmail, Control Panel and 9 more widgets, can be installed easily within a click.
The tool brings almost the same 8 tiled based to Windows 7 which is coming up with Windows 8. The interface will look familiar to you if you’ve working on Windows phone 7 both have pretty much same interface. You can close the tool by clicking ‘Exit’ on the sidebar. As of now, it’s available for Windows 7 users only.
