Facebook has announced a big change in the social networking site at the F8 keynote meeting that took place several hours ago. This change is the biggest since the beginning of the Facebook. Facebook is coming up with a new re-imagined profile page, which is being called Timeline, that lets a user’s friends see their most important content from their entire time on Facebook.
Users can now set a big picture as a banner at the top of their profile and every other things will be under that banner as boxes. Each and every element, whether it’s pictures or recent stories will now appear in separate boxes.
The most interesting thing Mark Zuckerberg talked about at the F8 meeting is Open Graph. It lets you play music right from the Facebook page. It lets you connect your spotify account with Facebook. All activities performed on Spotify will also appear on your Facebook profile.
There will be no annoying prompt boxes that open op during playing the games on Facebook. You can watch videos with your friends. The new Ticker news feed will play an important role as it gets the live updates of what users are reading, playing or eating. A ton of new features will be there when you get the new Facebook Timeline.
Here’s how to get Facebook Timeline right now
Facebook will roll out the new Timeline to all users on 30th September, 2011. But those of you who don’t want to wait to get hands on with the new Facebook Timeline, there is a trick through which you’ll be able to enable or activate the Facebook’s new Timeline before they roll out this feature to everyone. Just follow the step by step instructions below:
1) Log in to your Facebook account and visit developer app. It will ask you for the permission. Once you have granted access to the app, just click the ‘Create new app’ at the top right of the Facebook screen. In the pop-up box, type anything in both the text fields. Click on Submit.
2) The app page will open op. Click on the ‘Open Graph’ link at the left panel bar. On the next page, under the ‘Get started with Open Graph’, write ‘watch’ and ‘movie’ in the first and second text box respectively and click ‘Get started’.
3) On the next page, under the ‘What are Action types’, leave everything untouched and scroll down to the bottom then click ‘Save Changes and Next’. Do the same thing on the next screen.
4) You’ll be taken to this screen (Below Screenshot). Wait a few minutes, and then go to your Facebook homepage.
That’s where you’ll be invited to enable Timeline. Be patient at this point. Sometimes it requires you to wait before the changes take effect.
That’s it!! Share the post if you liked it. Do let me know if you’re having any issues.
